Extending Care to the Last Mile
In Ladakh, distance is not just geographical — it often becomes a barrier to health itself. Many rural communities remain cut off from timely medical care due to long travel distances, high costs, and limited availability of trained professionals within villages.
For many families, reaching Leh or Srinagar for even basic consultation is not always possible. As a result, people often continue living with untreated conditions, only seeking help when illnesses become severe.

Taking Healthcare to the Community
In response, Ladakh Heart Foundation strengthened its outreach efforts through a series of health camps across remote villages during 2024–2025.
Over the year, 7 health awareness and medical camps were conducted, reaching more than 1,200 patients with:
Free medical check-ups
Doctor consultations
Basic diagnostics
Essential medicines
These camps were held across communities including:
Spituk
Choglamsar
Sakti
Leh Town
Hemis
Chuchot
Each camp was designed not just as a service, but as a space for connection — where healthcare could meet people in their own environment.

Focusing on What Often Goes Unseen
A key focus of these camps was early screening for chronic conditions such as:
Hypertension
Diabetes
Heart disease
In Ladakh, these conditions often remain undiagnosed until they reach critical stages. By bringing screening directly into villages, the Foundation aimed to shift care from reactive to preventive.
Impact on the Ground
The impact of these camps is felt in simple but meaningful ways.
Hundreds of individuals received medical attention without having to leave their communities.Health concerns were identified earlier, allowing for timely intervention.People became more aware of their own health and the importance of regular check-ups.
At the same time, these camps created opportunities for dialogue — helping communities better understand preventive care, lifestyle choices, and when to seek medical help.
Beyond Treatment
More than anything, these camps helped build trust.
Trust that healthcare can reach even the most remote corners.Trust that support is consistent, not occasional.Trust that their well-being matters.
